Edward Takacs founded High Tech Ventures in 1986. During his 25+ years spent placing high-level executives into early-stage start-ups, Ed has developed a profound domain knowledge of how to broker people, companies and ideas; how people make critical decisions; and how successful companies and careers are formed.

Ed started his career at Intel, where he was a top sales performer. He holds an MBA from the Univ. of Chicago, a BS in EE from Univ. of Santa Clara, and a BA in economics from the Univ. of the Pacific.

Giuliana leads HTV’s investments in early stage start-ups with a goal of enabling new firms with the capital, contacts, and team-building resources required for success. Giuliana's experience includes executive search and consulting with High Tech Ventures; strategy consulting with Bain and Co.; and Investment Banking with Lehman Brothers in London and Milan. She holds a Master of Arts in Economics from Bocconi University, Milan - Italy and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Eric partners with HTV’s Cloud computing clients to find world-class talent for their growing teams. With more than a decade of SaaS success to leverage on behalf of both client firms and candidates, Eric is uniquely able to identify and match the best players for the best opportunities. At salesforce.com, Eric was the first field salesperson hired in the company’s history and was recognized as both the number one ranked sales producer and VP, worldwide, during his tenure. From there, Eric served as VP of WW Sales at Veracode – thanks to HTV’s placement efforts -- where he managed the team’s first four years of sales growth. Eric holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Notre Dame, and a M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship from the Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.

As Director of Software, Jim drives the development of HTV's technology. He brings to HTV a wealth of application design, rapid prototyping and custom application development experience.

The foundation of Jim's application and database experience was laid in startup environments at Platinum Software, Powersoft and PeopleStream Software. He then served as a consultant, delivering instruction and custom applications to clients including Boston Univ., WPI, Cigna, Sun Life of Canada, and the New England Journal of Medicine.

Jim holds a bachelor’s degree from the Univ. of Massachusetts, an MBA from Bentley College and is a veteran of the USAF.

Rob is responsible for HTV’s “Big Data” client portfolio that includes firms in the Business Intelligence, Search, and Analytics arena. Rob’s team-building efforts span across all functional areas, from Sales to Engineering, and all levels, from key individual contributors to C-level executives. His ability to match candidates with the best-fitting opportunities comes as a result of almost 25 years of enterprise software experience including career stops at NCR, Teradata, Oracle, and Endeca where Rob was one of the first salespeople and integral to Endeca’s growth from $5M to $100M from 2003-2008. The one consistent philosophy throughout Rob’s career has been to put the client first and always work on their behalf. Rob has taken that philosophy and uses it daily in his work with candidates at High Tech Ventures. Rob enjoys sports (particularly golf), travel and working with non-profits in his spare time and holds a B.S. in Management and a B.S. in Marketing and Finance from the University of Rhode Island.

Joel manages HTV’s Communications Software practice with an emphasis on speech recognition, imaging solutions, and social media. Joel has over 25 years of experience as a software engineer, product manager and has been a successful entrepreneur in companies ranging from startups to multinationals. He was a software engineer in Apollo Computer's pioneering Operating System Group. At Xerox Imaging Systems (ScanSoft, later Nuance) he led the company’s switch from hardware based systems to shrink-wrapped software. He later worked as the original product manager for Wildfire Communications' innovative voice based telephone assistant. As an entrepreneur, Joel co-founded and grew MinutePoll, where he created a large scale automated IVR polling system and continued with the company after its sale. As an independent consultant he later developed several commercial iPhone apps. Joel has an A.B., Computer Science, from Dartmouth College and a MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth.

Kurt collaborates with HTV’s clients to find accomplished QA and Release engineers for their growing development teams. Prior to joining HTV in 2008, Kurt received his JD from the New England School of Law, with concentrations in emerging technology and computer law. He also holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Massachusetts in Political Science, History and Latin American studies, graduating with honors.
